Tripura Assembly Elections 2023: Who is CPM leader Jitendra Chowdhary in the race for the post of CM?

Addressing a joint election rally at Kailashahar in Unakoti district, Ajay Kumar said, “If we come to power after the elections, a highly influential CPI(M) leader and ‘son of the soil’ will contest for the state.”Jitendra Chowdhary is one of the CPI(M)’s top leaders from the tribal community, and is seen as the frontrunner for the post in case the Left-Congress alliance comes to power in Tripura.

Please tell that Jitendra Chaudhary is a member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist). He won the 2014 Indian general election from the First East (Lok Sabha constituency) to be sworn in in 2019 against BJP’s Revathi Tripurari.

Jitendra Chowdhary born on 27th June in the year 1958 is the current State Critic of the Communist Party of India (Marxist). He was elected as a member of the Central Committee at the 22nd Communist Party Congress in 2018. He is the present President of GMP (Swadeshi Tripuri wing of the party). He is also the joint secretary of WorksKS, the farmers’ wing of the party. He is the National Commissioner of Maximum Authority National Forum (AARM).

In 1993, Chowdhary again ran as a CSK(M) candidate for the Tripura Assembly elections from the Manu ST constituency and won the election. He remained in the ministry as Minister of Forests and Industries, Commerce, Sports from 1993 to 1998. He was also the Minister of Forest and Industry, Commerce, Sports in Manik Sarkar Ministry from 1998 to 2014. In the 2014 Indian general election, he won from Tripura East (Lok Sabha constituency) and became the member of the 16th December from Tripura. However, he lost to Chuvaev in 2019.
