In Tripura, the CPI(M) on Monday termed party MLA Mabshar Ali as a “traitor” for joining the BJP ahead of the assembly elections.

Senior CPI(M) leader Pabitra Kar said Mr Ali is a “traitor” who betrayed the party just for a ticket and has been expelled from the party. Mr. Ali, the CPI(M) MLA from Kailashahar assembly constituency, along with former Trinamool Congress state president Subal Bhowmik, joined the BJP on January 27 in Delhi in the presence of Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha and the party’s Northeast coordinator Sambit Patra.

Assembly elections in Tripura are to be held on February 16.

Shri Ali was given BJP ticket from Kailashahar constituency.

Mr. Ali who won the 2018 Tripura Assembly elections on a CPI(M) ticket was denied a ticket by the CPI(M) as his constituency was given to the Congress as part of a “seat adjustment” with the Congress. Was.
