In a statement issued on Friday, the Ministry of External Affairs said that all temporary structures created by both sides in Gogra-Hotsprings will be mutually verified by dismantling the associated infrastructure.
“Both sides agreed to resolve the remaining issues, restore peace and tranquility along the LAC in the India-China border areas,” a foreign ministry spokesperson said.
The agreement ensures that the LAC in this area will be strictly adhered to and respected by both sides, and that the status quo will not change unilaterally, it said.
“With the resolution of the standoff on PP-1S, both sides mutually agreed to carry forward the dialogue and resolve the remaining issues along the LAC and restore peace in the India-China border areas,” the statement said. ”
The development comes a day after Indian and Chinese armies announced that they have started withdrawing from the Gogra-Hotsprings patrolling point 15, where the two sides have been locked in a standoff for more than two years.
