Kochi:

The Pallurathi police in Kochi has arrested a tuition teacher for allegedly thrashing a four-year-old girl student for not studying properly.

The police on Thursday arrested Akhil, 30, after registering a case under various provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Juvenile Justice (JJ) Act based on a complaint by the child’s parents.

Police said, “A case has been registered under sections 324 and 506 of IPC and section 75 of JJ Act. We received the complaint on June 22 and arrested him yesterday. He has been taken on remand.”

The complaint alleged that the boy was brutally thrashed by the tuition teacher and threatened his mother if she approached the police.

A case has been registered under sections 324 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation of the IPC and section 75 (punishment for cruelty to child) of the Juvenile Justice Act).
