Tulsi Gowda, a tribal legend from Honnali village in Karnataka, was awarded the Padma Shri for social work. Tulsi Gowda trended on social media after congratulating PM Modi on receiving the Padma Shri award from President Ram Nath Kovind. Prime Minister Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah were seen greeting him with folded hands. The 72-year-old environmentalist is known as the Encyclopedia of Forests because of his vast knowledge of diverse species of plants and herbs. The lighthearted tribal woman, who never went to school, works in a government nursery and has planted over 30,000 saplings. She has been an inspiration to many for her environmental protection activities.
