Tune in to ‘Jolly O Gymkhana’: Shantanu, Kiki’s Tamil podcast is a humorous look at serious issues

Television host and anchor Kirti (Kiki) begins Vijay, “We talk a lot.” “I talk a lot and make it up” [Shanthanu Bhagyaraj] Talk together. That’s why people say that they see a different Shantanu from the screen and interview. We love pulling each other’s legs, and are almost like a Tom and Jerry couple,” says Kiki. The anchor along with her husband actor Shantanu recently launched a podcast titled jolly o gymkhana In Spotify, that follows a witty style, taking on serious and topical issues.

Says Shantanu, “We started with entertainment because that is what people expect from us. We are also going to talk about topics that people go through today, such as depression and social media addiction. But Kiki is quick to add that the podcast will drop everything with a hope.

jolly o gymkhana The original will join the new roster of Tamil podcasts that the digital platform has launched in partnership with popular South Indian record label, Divo. At an event for podcasters in Chennai recently, Unni Namboodiripad, Head of Original Podcasts and Content Development Lead at Spotify, says, “We have seen a lot of growth in the Tamil market not only in terms of music but also podcasts, so we Want to continue investing.”

my dear macapas Television host Ma Ka Pa Anand also joins the league with a conversational podcast. “I was an RJ (radio jockey) for many years. With a platform like this, I know how to do it. So it is the perfect match for me,” says Anand.

He continues, “I’ve done most of my radio shows alone,” explains Macappa, “but it would be nice to have a sidekick. I can ask my wife to stay on,” he laughs, “or maybe my friends.” Even in the first episode, I wanted to be comfortable so I kept the conversation going. I also put my phone on the loudspeaker and called my friends to ask what they think a podcast is, as a prank.” Anand Expect to bring in four to five episodes each month while Shantanu and Kiki will release 52 episodes a year.Spotify has created 10 original podcasts so far, including popular podcasts like: crime spot YouTuber Rishipedia and . with nalana murukku by RJ Balaji

Spotify has also launched an initiative to showcase female indie talent in the audio scene called AmplifyHer. Podcast host Deepika Arun Embroidery Osai, shares her thoughts, “Projecting women in audio is a great initiative. Audio itself is a new medium and people don’t understand podcasts. So it really means a lot to create awareness for people working in audio, especially women.”
