Tunnel boring machine Lavi came out on MG Road

Tunnel boring machine covered a distance of 1,076 meters from Shivajinagar

Tunnel Boring Machine Lavi was launched on February 10, 2021 at Shivajinagar Metro Station. It completed 1,076 meters of tunnel work to reach MG Road Metro Station on April 15, 2022. Lavi will proceed to Rashtriya Military School Metro Station.

The Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) Lavi came out at MG Road underground station on Friday after digging a tunnel at a distance of 1,076 meters from Shivajinagar.

In a press release, Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) said that the TBM faced a dolerite zone for a length of 232 meters, in which tunneling was extremely challenging and required frequent interventions. The release further said that the TBMs will be deployed at the other end of the MG Road station to form a tunnel network up to the Rashtriya Military School station.
