Turkey-Syria earthquake: Apple, Google announce relief and recovery support

Thousands killed in Monday’s magnitude 7.8 earthquake in Turkey and Syria. Five major earthquakes have occurred in the region in the last 48 hours. Technology giants Apple and Google have announced support for disaster-hit Syria and Turkey.

Expressing his condolences on the microblogging site Twitter, Apple CEO Tim Cook and… Google CEO Sundar Pichai has announced a donation towards relief and recovery efforts in the region. Google has also activated SOS Alerts in turkey and Syria to provide relevant information.

“Sending my thoughts and condolences to the people of Turkey, Syria and anyone affected by the devastating earthquakes. Apple will donate to relief and recovery efforts,” Apple’s Tim Cook writes in a Twitter post.

In a tweet, Google CEO Sundar Pichai wrote: “Thinking about everyone in Turkey and Syria who are suffering devastating losses following the earthquake. We have launched SOS Alerts to provide relevant emergency information to those affected.” Have activated, and @Googleorg and Googlers will support relief and recovery efforts.”

As mentioned above, Turkey and Syria have been jolted by five consecutive earthquakes in the past 48 hours. More than 5,000 people have died and thousands have been injured in these earthquakes.

Countries around the world have come together to aid in recovery and relief efforts for affected countries. India has also sent NDRF teams and recovery material to Turkey.
