TVS Apache RR 310 Review: Pulling out the curves, the competition neatly done. – times of India

Chennai: Call it an annual update or a strategic masterstroke, TVS Motor Company We’ve been surprised yet again with its 2021 facelifted Apache RR 310. Why I call this a surprise, because in the last update, we already experienced wire-by-throttle, super grippy Michelin Road 5 tires and glide through first-in-segment ride modes and technology.
This time around, the focus is on the next level of reinforcements for the track day. The 2021 facelift of the RR 310 starts at Rs 2.59 lakh (ex-showroom) and you can unlock multiple race accessories under the newly introduced built-to-own customization platform at an additional premium. Configure the motorcycle to your liking and the company claims to deliver it within 60 days.
The Dynamic and Race Kits will set you back Rs 12,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively. The prior set of optimizations opens up another dimension of segment-first features. The front upside-down forks and the rear monoshock are adjustable for pre-loading and dumping.

The Race Kit changes the ergonomics of the rider. The footpegs are raised by 30 mm and the clip-on handlebars are lowered 8 degrees and rotated 5 degrees towards the rider. How do these mechanical kits affect? We will discuss this in a while.
If you have made up your mind on the Race and Dynamic package, I suggest spending an additional Rs 4,500 to get your hands on the Race replica design. TVS is charging Rs 1,500 for the red alloy wheels. I would have liked the option of more shades to choose from.
In terms of standard fitment, the new feature in the standard RR is an in-built digital document keeper in the instrument cluster, which makes your DL, RC easy for carrying purposes. Also, there is a new color option on offer in Grey-Black.

Let’s get the ball rolling and tell you what to expect with all of these offerings. For starters, it’s good to see american tribe The RR 310 doesn’t try to chase after the more powerful, better equipped KTM Duke 390, instead TVS is carving a niche in its own way.
For example, in the last update, the Ride Mode was a great way to let owners know that they can ride the motorcycle however they want. Now it’s time to tell you how the RR 310 feels when loaded and shot on the race track.
First, it looks mean in this race outfit, which would go down well with customers. We had the opportunity to ride the RR 310 back-to-back at stock settings and a suspension tightly tuned for committed handling. The difference was immediately noticeable.

And let me tell you, the video looks amateurish with regards to the grip and cornering skills the bike is displaying now. The slightest instability of the front forks dipping into the S- and U-curves is ironed out at the steepest suspension setting. Also, in this setting, the RR 310 picked up an extra 15-20 kmph comfortably around similar obstacles.
Moving the footpeg up ensures that the knee will be scratched on the tarmac but not on your toes. In addition, the RR 310 felt very easy to pilot due to the aggressive position of the handlebars. That said, the stance can break your back in the long distance.
Things are in favor of the RR 310. However, to increase the comfort of the rider, TVS should consider offering adjustable clutch and brake levers like the RTR 200 4V. Finally, why isn’t targeting the bi-directional quick shifter or frame slider when TVS is performing the way it is. Well, let’s cross fingers for the 2022 facelift.
Existing RR customers should be excited as TVS will be expanding the customization program for them as well. The company will refund the motorcycles with Race Kit or Dynamic Kit or both at an additional premium on request.
Adjustable suspension opens up many new opportunities for bike exploration. It’s more confident on the track, sending up the hairpin with ease. The point is that tinkering with suspensions and fixing them when things go wrong requires a certain level of understanding and expertise, which I believe is still a slim population. If you belong to that group then you will absolutely love the pricing and capabilities.
