New Delhi: Twitter’s new owner, Elon Musk, has soon announced his plan to charge Twitter users for blue ticks on a monthly basis. Fee income will depend on the offer and the purchasing power parity of each country/region. This has sparked a debate with many users complaining of being charged for a service that was previously free.

What is Twitter Blue Tick?

This is a verification badge given by Twitter to prominent and popular people and organizations to verify their accounts. The blue verified badge on Twitter lets people know that a public interest account is authentic. It helps to expose fake accounts to real ones. Twitter blue ticks have become the status of a symbol for users to mark their importance and responsibility. It cannot be bought before the acquisition of Musk.

What is the process to get the verification tick?

A person who wants to verify their account must have these three things: Authentic, Notable and Active.

How to apply for verification yet?

Step 1: Need to navigate to the More*** icon in the main menu.

Step 2: Then select ‘Settings and Support’ option.

Step 3: Then select ‘Settings & Privacy’ option.

Step 4: Now select ‘Your Account’.

Step 5: Tab on Account Information and then enter your password to continue.

Step 6: Under Verify, select Request verification. Then initiate the request.
