Twitter will charge so much for ‘Blue Tick’, there are perks…

Twitter will take money for “blue ticks”, says Elon Musk

New Delhi:

Twitter’s new owner Elon Musk has confirmed that the microblogging website will charge $8 per month if someone wants a “blue tick,” indicating that an account has been verified as genuine.

“The current master and farmer system of Twitter that has or doesn’t have a blue checkmark is bullshit. Power to the people! Blue for $8/month,” tweeted Mr. Musk.

“Price adjusted by country in proportion to purchasing power parity,” Musk said, without specifying the method he used to determine “purchasing power.”

Musk’s new plan for verified icons also includes giving real users some superpowers.

“You’ll also get: priority in answers, mentions and search, which is essential to defeating spam/scams. Ability to post longer videos and audios. More than half the ads. And paywalls for publishers who want to work with us Bypass,” Mr Musk, who is also the chief executive of Tesla Motors, tweeted.

Mr Musk’s Twitter acquisition presents huge challenges for the businessman who has to face calls from people of all political color to listen. These demands include requests to bring people back on the platform like former US President Donald Trump, whose Twitter account was suspended for allegedly dog-whistling supporters inciting violence following the US election results in January 2021 , which showed that he had lost.
