Two dialysis centers for AIDS, Hepatitis patients

Two dialysis centers will be opened for AIDS and Hepatitis patients – one in Hyderabad and the other in Warangal. Five beds in each of the two centers will be earmarked for AIDS patients and an equal number for hepatitis patients.

Health Minister T. Harish Rao has issued instructions to senior officers in this regard in a meeting held at the Arogyasree Trust office in Jubilee Hills on Wednesday. Free services to be launched soon. He has also directed the officers to provide free dialysis services to TS government employees and retired personnel at 43 state-run centres.

The minister said that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao took this decision because patients in need of dialysis incur heavy expenditure for this procedure. About 10,000 people undergo dialysis at all the centres. Mr. Harish Rao said, “The government spends ₹100 crore per year for this purpose.”

Centers with high patient load will be identified. Director Medical Education K. Ramesh Reddy has been directed to prepare a proposal for additional dialysis machines for the centres. Such places should also be identified where such facilities are lacking.

Principal Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, Syed Ali Murtaza Rizvi, Officer on Special Duty to Chief Minister T. Gangadhar, Director of Drug Control Administration Preeti Meena, Telangana State Medical Services and Infrastructure Development Corporation Managing Director Chandrashekhar Reddy were present in the meeting.
