Two killed, seven injured after truck collides in Coimbatore Coimbatore News – Times of India

Coimbatore: Two children were killed and seven others were injured when a truck parked behind a truck collided with them on the Palakkad-Coimbatore road near KG Chavadi in Coimbatore district on Sunday morning.
The deceased has been identified as M Sanju Sri (7) of Erode, his younger brother M Mithran (5).
A truck laden with casting powder bags was on its way from Kozhikode in Kerala state to Coimbatore. When the truck reached near the Meena gas godown on the Palakkad-Coimbatore bypass road, R Chinnasamy (44), the driver of the truck from Mathavarayapuram in Coimbatore district, had parked the truck on the roadside as the fuel tank was empty at around 5.30 am. Sunday.
At least ten people, including three children from Erode district, visited Kozhikode in Kerala on Saturday morning and offered prayers at the Narasimha temple and a mosque. He was returning from Kozhikode to Erode in Sarvagrahi. R Monishkumar (30) of Erode drove the van and the truck driver failed to place the caution board behind the vehicle. Monishkumar felt that the truck was going towards Coimbatore. Later, he came to know that it was a parked truck and lost control of the vehicle and rammed into the rear of the parked truck.
Omnibus owner A Nizar Ali (35), a resident of Sangu Nagar near Pallivasal in Erode, escaped without any injuries.
Seeing the mishap, other drivers stopped their vehicles on the roadside and ran towards the spot. They started rescuing the injured. Omnivan driver Monishkumar’s son Sanju Sri and his daughter Mitran suffered serious injuries and were taken to a private hospital where doctors declared them brought dead.
The bodies were sent to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH) for post-mortem.
Monishkumar, his wife M Indumati (26), V Ramachandran (65), a wall painter, his wife R Sarika (55), their daughters R Ranjitha (18), a college student, R Akshay (14), of class IX The girl student and R Kanchanakumari (50), all residents of Erode city.
Some of his legs were broken and some had injuries on his hands and face. Seven injured have been admitted to two private hospitals for treatment. KG Chavadi police said, all the injured persons were natives of Kozhikode in Kerala state and they migrated to Erode district of Tamil Nadu and settled around 20 years ago.
KG Chavadi police have registered a case against the truck driver Chinnasamy and took further action.
