Two killed, three injured due to falling of trees in separate incidents in Haridwar

Haridwar (Uttarakhand). [India]May 24 (ANI): Two people, including a 4-year-old child, were killed and three others injured after a tree fell on them due to heavy storm in two separate incidents in Uttarakhand’s Haridwar.

“Due to rain and gale, a 200-year-old tree fell in Jwalapur area and many people got buried under it. All four people have been rescued and sent to a government hospital. A tourist from Sonepat died after a tree fell on it near Chamgdar Tapu,” said Ajay Singh, SSP Haridwar

Police said, the fire department and the police team reached the spot and somehow took out 3 people safely, but in the late night rescue operation, a 4-year-old child died while being taken to the hospital.

In another incident, two persons were killed when a tree fell in Laljiwala area, in which a devotee from Sonepat died.

The injured have been admitted to the district hospital where they are undergoing treatment.

“5 people were brought here in two separate incidents out of which two people died. One patient has been referred to AIIMS Rishikesh. At the same time, the treatment of two people is going on in the district hospital here.

The District Magistrate (DM) and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) reached the spot and took stock of the rescue operation. (ANI)
