The military said in a statement that its operation in Nablus was carried out alongside the police, and it also launched operations in the city of Mugair, the Ayda camp and the city of Jenin, among many other places.
It said the operation in Nablus had been launched “to apprehend armed terrorist suspects”.
“During the activity, there was an exchange of fire between armed suspects and Israeli forces. Hits on several terrorists were identified,” it said.
The Israeli military alleged that a “violent riot was instigated” during the “operational activity”.
“The rioters hurled explosive devices and stones and shot at the soldiers, endangering their lives,” the statement said. “The troops responded with rioting means and live fire.”
The military also said it had worked with the Israel Border Police in the village of Kabatia to “approach two suspects involved in terrorist activities”.
“The armed suspects opened fire on the soldiers, who retaliated,” it said.
