“The rioters hurled explosive devices and stones and shot at the soldiers, endangering their lives,” the statement said. “The troops responded with rioting means and live fire.”
The military also said it had worked with the Israel Border Police in the village of Kabatia to “approach two suspects involved in terrorist activities”.
“The armed suspects opened fire on the soldiers, who retaliated,” it said.
