Surat: It was a delight for a 72-year-old man to find his wallet, which he didn’t even realize was lost. Two TRB personnel posted near the office of the Commissioner of Police, in a heart-warming display of rare integrity, called up the senior citizen and revealed his wallet.
He was overjoyed as well as surprised, the senior citizen applauded the honesty of both the jawans when he went to collect his purse.
Bhupendra Raiji, a resident of Athwalines area, had taken VRS a few years back from his work as an insurance agent in a bank. The elders regularly go out for morning walk and after their routine walk on Sunday morning went to fill petrol in their vehicle and returned home.
“When I was returning home, my mobile phone rang, but when I was driving I did not get the call. When I got home, the phone was ringing again, and I saw that the call was from an unknown number. I got a call, and the caller identified himself and told me that he and his associate found my wallet and asked me to pick it up from where they were posted near the police commissioner’s office. That’s when I realized that my wallet was really missing. It must have fallen,” the senior citizen told TOI.
Bhupendrabhai reached the place where he met two TRB jawans Suresh Rathod and Hiren Patel, who said they found his number from a laboratory receipt in the wallet, which contained around Rs 9,000 in cash, among other important documents.
“I really appreciate his rare integrity and honesty. We will invite him to our Senior Citizens Club and honor him for his amazing work.”
