Two women were found dead inside their house in Vadakkekara on Tuesday morning.
The deceased have been identified as Ambika, 60, of Muthakunnam and her mother-in-law, Sarojini, 90. Police suspect that Ambika strangulated Sarojini before taking her own life, though a case of unnatural death has been registered for now.
Ambika was found hanged, while Sarojini was found dead on her bed.
The police have registered a case on the basis of the statement of Ambika’s son-in-law. What made the police suspicious was a note recovered from the house and marks on Sarojini’s neck. Both were living alone.
The post-mortem reports were awaited to confirm the cause of the deaths. Police suspect that these deaths took place between 5 pm on Monday and 8.45 am on Tuesday
