Uas launches innovative products made from waste Hubli News – Times of India

Dharwad: Students of University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad Innovative products such as poultry feed, maize based paper and areca chocolate have been developed and are ready for commercial production.
These products are promoted under world Bank Funded NAHEP-IDP. Director of Research SS Dolly, Professor PL Patil and Principal Investigator PU Krishnaraji Said that the products have been developed from waste such as silkworm pupa, maize husk and maize cones. He said that the products are of high quality and they are available at very affordable prices.
The university is encouraging these clusters to produce on a large scale and develop revenue models. A seed amount of Rs 25,000 is provided to each group to start commercial production. It is expected that farmers will benefit from the new products as they are cheap and of high quality. In addition, wastes such as silkworm pupae and maize husks that cause pollution can be put to productive use, Dolly said.
