Uddhav Thackeray demanded mid-term elections in Maharashtra, said- bow and arrow will be the election symbol of his party. India News – Times of India

New Delhi: Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray on Friday called for mid-term elections in Maharashtra and said ‘bow and arrow’ will remain his party’s election symbol.
Uddhav was forced to step down as the chief minister last month after a senior Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde Along with 40 party MLAs rebelled against him. Shinde later joined hands with the BJP to replace Uddhav as the chief minister and won a comfortable trust vote in the state assembly.
Challenging the rebels who toppled his Maha Vikas Aghadi government, Uddhav said, “We are ready to face elections. They should also be ready to face elections and get re-elected.”
After losing his government, Uddhav is now fighting to keep control of the party which was founded by his father Balasaheb Thackeray.
The rebel faction, which has majority of the party’s MLAs, has claimed that they are the real Shiv Sena.
The Uddhav faction is facing a tough challenge in maintaining its grip on the party as several councilors have also switched loyalties in the past few days and have come out in support of Eknath Shinde.
Assuring the Shiv Sainiks about his control over the party, Uddhav said: “The legislature party and the parent party are two different entities and there should be no confusion over the symbol.”
“If we see it legally, no one can snatch the symbol. I have told this to my Shiv Sainiks too. So don’t worry about it,” he said.
“I told Shiv Sainiks that people not only see the symbol on the ballot paper, but also the person (contestant). However, this does not mean that we have to think of another symbol and I am saying this after speaking constitutionally. specialist,” he said.
Supreme Court to hear fresh plea against appointment of Eknath Shinde as Chief Minister of Maharashtra
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court on Friday agreed to hear on July 11 a fresh petition by the Uddhav Thackeray-led faction challenging the appointment of Eknath Shinde as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra.

Desai has challenged the Governor’s June 30 decision to invite the alliance of Shinde faction and BJP to form the government in Maharashtra.
The Thackeray-led faction has also challenged the validity of the assembly proceedings held on July 3 and 4 in which a new Speaker of the House was elected and the subsequent floor test proceedings in which the Shinde-led coalition proved its majority. .
Even before this, several petitions have been filed by the Thackeray-led faction on various issues related to the Maharashtra political crisis, which is being heard on July 11.
Uddhav Thackeray said, “I have faith in the judiciary, but the outcome of the case will tell how long the future of democracy will last.”
