UDF, Left exchanging words on fake video arrests

Left Front candidate Dr. Joe Joseph, Congress and IUML blame Communist Party of India (Marxist) in Thrikkakara by-election [CPI(M)] To do drama out of fear of losing by-elections.

Leader of the Opposition VD Satheesan alleged that the arrest “with the help of the police” was a conspiracy hatched by the CPI(M) on the day of polling. He said the arrested person had no connection with the IUML as certified by the party leadership.

IUML state general secretary PM E Salaam rubbished the police’s claim that the man arrested for uploading the fake video was linked to his party. “We had checked with the local leadership of IUML and they have confirmed that this person had no connection with our party. There is a feeling among voters that it was a drama created by the CPI(M) on the day of polling,” he said.

However, Left Front convener EP Jayarajan said the arrest of a worker of its colleague in the fake video case exposed the Congress. He said this development will affect the outcome of the elections in Trikkakara.

Mr Rajiv and Mr Swaraj demanded an apology from Mr Satisan for engaging in “cheap tactics” and the withdrawal of UDF candidate Uma Thomas from the fray over the incident.
