UGC and AICTE issued advisory for students pursuing higher education in Pakistan

UGC Secretary and Member Secretary, AICTE in a joint consultation said that any Indian citizen/foreign national of India who wants to take admission in any degree college or educational institution in Pakistan is not eligible for employment or higher studies in India. Will happen. On the basis of such educational qualification (in any discipline) acquired in Pakistan.

“However, expatriates and their children who have acquired a degree of higher education in Pakistan and have been awarded citizenship by India, shall be eligible for employment in India after obtaining security clearance from the Ministry of Home Affairs.” UGC And AICTE further informed the students.

Indian students were asked by University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Jagdish Kumar to carefully choose educational institutions abroad including Pakistan, China amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Jagdish Kumar said, “We issue notice advising students to be careful while choosing educational institutions abroad for higher education.” “Recently we have seen our students facing difficulties during the COVID-19 pandemic. They could not go back to China for studies”, Jagdish Kumar added as reported by ANI.

According to AICTE President Anil Sahasrabuddhe, Indian students need to be advised which institutions and countries they should travel to for education so that they do not come up with degrees as per Indian rules.

“In recent times, we have seen how our students faced difficulties as they could not go back abroad to continue their studies,” he said.

AICTE further told ANI that after immigrating to India and completing half of their education, when the students will not get the benefit of that degree, the money of the parents gets wasted. “So, the aim is to caution the students,” he said.
