UGC starts four UG, PG online courses for January semester

According to official information, the three MOOCs are meant to revive India as a global center of Buddhist culture and tourism. Fourth MOOC is on Community Engagement and Social Responsibility

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has developed four Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) that will be offered on the SWAYAM platform for the January semester of 2023. UGC SWAYAM courses are for both undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) candidates. According to official information, three are for the revival of MOOCs India As a global center of Buddhist culture and tourism. These include History of Indian Buddhism, Abhidhamma (Pali) and Buddhist philosophy.

The fourth MOOC is on Community Engagement and Social Responsibility. “UGC has also developed a MOOC course on Community Engagement and Social Responsibility in India as part of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA), which is a key recommendation of NEP 2020.” ,

Further in the official notice UGC has requested the Higher Education The Institutes (HEL) will approve and adopt these new MOOCs through their statutory bodies as per the University Grants Commission (Credit Framework for Online Learning Courses through the Study Web of Active Learning for Young Aspiring Minds) Regulations, 2021.

The commission has asked the universities/colleges to encourage students and new learners to enroll themselves for these courses in large numbers.

DETAILS OF COURSE DETAILS FOR SWAYAM (UGC) JANUARY 2023 SEMESTER: ANNEXURE-I

– History of Indian Buddhism

The course will start from 6th February and end on 22nd May 2023. The last date for nomination is 15 March 2023. The host university/institute which has approved MOOG for credit transfer is the Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies (CIHTS), Samath. Varanasi.

– Abhidhamma (Pali)

The course will start on 6th February and end on 22nd May 2023. The last date for enrollment for the course is 15 March 2023. The host university which has approved MOOG for credit transfer is the Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies (CIHTS), Samath. , Varanasi.

– Buddhist philosophy

The program will begin on February 6 and end on May 22 this year. The last date to apply for the course is 15 March 2023. The host university for credit transfer is Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies (CIHTS), Samath, Varanasi, UP.

– Community Engagement and Social Responsibility

The course will start from 6th February and end on 17th April. The last date of enrollment for the course is 15 March 2023. The host university which has been approved by MOOG for credit transfer is Dayalbagh Educational Institute (Deemed to be University), Dayalbagh Agra.
