UK PM Boris Johnson plans to scrap COVID-19 self-isolation law: Report

Last week, the health secretary said Covid self-isolation in England would be reduced from seven days to five days.

The Telegraph reported on Sunday that the United Kingdom is making plans under which people will not be legally obliged to self-isolate after catching COVID-19.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson wants to permanently repeal emergency coronavirus laws as Britain’s COVID-19 cases continue to decline, report says, adding official guidance will continue, but fines if ignored Or there will be no legal punishment.

The report said plans would be worked out in the coming weeks, with an announcement expected in early spring.

Last week, Health Secretary Sajid Javid said that COVID-19 self-isolation in England would be cut from seven to five days if someone tests negative twice.

PM Johnson is also set to lift the Plan B COVID-19 restrictions introduced last month to slow the spread of the Omicron version, according to an earlier Telegraph report.
