Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky’s car collided with another vehicle early Thursday after a trip to the battlefield, but he was not seriously injured, his spokesman said.

Mr. Zelensky was returning to Kyiv from the Kharkiv region, where he visited the troops in the recaptured city of Izium.

A passenger vehicle collided with the presidential convoy in Ukraine’s capital, his spokesman Sergei Nikiforov said in a Facebook post.

He said the driver of the other vehicle received first aid from Zelensky’s medical team and was taken by ambulance. Medics examined the president, who suffered no serious injuries, Nikiforov wrote. He did not say what injuries Mr Zelensky might have suffered.

The spokesman said the circumstances of the accident were being investigated.

Mr Zelensky was late in posting the video address of the night, which he had given during the war, possibly due to a car accident.
