UK’s Queen Camilla tests positive for Covid

Queen Consort Camilla contracted Covid early last year.

London:

Britain’s Queen Consort, Camilla, has tested positive for COVID-19, Buckingham Palace said on Monday.

The 75-year-old wife of King Charles III was said to be suffering from a “seasonal” illness but a positive Covid test has now led to the cancellation of all her engagements for the week.

“After suffering from cold-like symptoms, Her Majesty The Queen Consort has tested positive for the Covid virus,” a Buckingham Palace statement said.

“With regret, she has canceled all of her public appearances for this week and apologizes to those who were due to attend,” the statement said.

The Queen was due to host a number of events in the West Midlands region of England, including a celebration of the centenary of the Elmhurst Ballet School in Edgbaston, Birmingham.

She was also set to visit Southwater Forest Library in Telford to thank staff and representatives of outreach and voluntary groups for their contribution to the community.

A spokesman for Buckingham Palace said it was hoped a new date could be found soon for the postponed events.

Camila contracted Covid early last year and has been forced to cancel her appearances at several events.

Charles has tested positive for the virus several times over the years with mild symptoms.
