Uma Bharti lauds UP CM Yogi Adityanath’s loudspeaker instructions, advises MP to copy them

Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Uma Bharti, who kept her government at one place on issues including prohibition of liquor, unlocking of Shiv temple in Raisen, on Wednesday lauded the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government’s new order on loudspeakers at religious places. .

In a series of tweets, Bharti said the UP government’s move to control the level of noise pollution is commendable. He further said that high noise levels affected human health, claiming that proper sleep at night was imperative.

Bharti sought a ban on loudspeakers from 10 pm to 7 am, saying they should be allowed for public functions only on the condition that the sound is limited to those present and there is no discrimination on the basis of religion.

The high noise levels were affecting schools and hospitals, besides the elderly and students, who had a hard time due to the unrestrained noise, he said.

Urging the MP to emulate his neighboring state’s move, the former Union minister said the noise level in weddings and public processions should be fixed.

Rajnish Agrawal, one of the party spokespersons of the Madhya Pradesh BJP, said the party would consider Bharti’s suggestions in the context of the local situation if the CM and the Home Minister find it appropriate.

Congress spokesperson Bhupendra Gupta said that the Shivraj Chouhan-led government is not paying heed to any of the demands of the former CM and the new demand may again leave Bharti in an awkward position.

Adityanath on Tuesday ordered the administration in Uttar Pradesh to ensure that the sound of loudspeakers is confined to religious places and other people should not face any problem. He has ordered the police not to allow religious processions without permission. Loudspeakers should not be allowed at new sites, the CM’s order added.
