Umran Malik to stay in UAE as net bowler for Indian cricket team

Jammu and Kashmir pacer Umran Malik has been asked to stay in UAE as a net bowler for the Indian team for the T20 World Cup after his impressive performance. IPL Debut with Sunrisers Hyderabad

Within a few months, Umran’s life has changed. With just two senior level home matches before the start of the IPL, the 21-year-old has impressed skipper Virat Kohli enough that he has been called up as a net bowler with the Indian team.

Umran impressed many with his raw pace playing for SRH this season and consistently bowled at 150 kmph. He also bowled the fastest ball of IPL at a speed of 153 kmph. Umran’s father is the owner of a fruit shop.

A source close to the SRH franchise told PTI on condition of anonymity, “Yes, Umran is on hold as he will join Team India’s bubble as a net bowler.”

In his first IPL season, the pacer took two wickets in three matches. His team finished last in the SRH standings.

Umran also praised Indian captain Kohli.

“This tournament brings forth talent every year, it is nice to see a guy bowling 150 clicks. From here it is important to understand the progress of individuals,” Kohli said earlier this week.

“The fast bowlers being strong is always a good sign for Indian cricket and whenever you see talent like this, you are the one to keep an eye on them and make sure you maximize their potential which is already there. The same is being seen at the IPL level. ” she added.

India will start their T20 World Cup campaign against Pakistan on 24 October.
