‘Unauthorized parking lot ate the road’ in section 70A. Gurgaon News – Times of India

Unauthorized parking on both sides of the road has reduced the width of the road

GURUGRAM: Unauthorized parking along the inner 24 meter road of Sector 70A is a matter of concern for the residents of BPTP Astaire Garden, as it causes traffic jams and poses a security risk to them.
Residents reported that the lack of car parking facilities at the nearby affordable housing project, Pyramid Urban Homes, results in on-street parking of more than 500 cars per day.
He alleged that the situation persisted for over a year, adding that the situation has worsened in the last two months. People complained about this to the traffic police including the police commissioner, but there was no solution to the problem.
Unauthorized parking on both sides of the road has reduced the width of the road, causing traffic jams in the area. One of the residents of Astaire Garden, Neehar Ranjan said, “The situation on the road is extremely chaotic and gets worse on weekends when sometimes there is no space for pedestrians to walk.
It becomes impossible for us to reach the administrative office and the club of our society. Due to haphazard parking, there is a dispute between the people and the outsiders every day. In addition, we have heard of some cases of anti-social elements drinking alcohol in cars, making lewd comments on women and stalking. Women and children do not go out of the society at night due to unsafe roads.
Residents said that due to the parking problem, the school buses also refused to pick up or drop the children at the society gate. “My daughter studies in Sector 45, and the school bus used to take children from the society gate earlier, but now refuses to come inside.
This forces the children and their parents to walk for 1-2 km to the bus stop in this hot weather. This disturbance has also affected the operation of GMCBL buses in the area. Earlier buses used to come in B block of the society, but now they stop one kilometer ahead. We have urged the police to set up a beat post around our society to address the issue,” said Rajat Srivastava, another resident. Meanwhile, DCP (Traffic) RS Tomar said, “The matter had not come to my notice earlier. However, I will ask the concerned officer to look into it. Whatever is necessary will be done to resolve the issue.”
