Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on 1 February Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Union Budget It was “people-friendly, progressive” and full of possibilities for infrastructure, investment, growth and jobs.

In a televised statement, Shri Modi said that an important aspect of the Union Budget is the welfare of the poor. “It seeks to solve contemporary problems and create new opportunities for the common people,” he said.

“The objective of the budget is to ensure every poor household with a pucca house, toilet, tap water and gas connection. At the same time, attention is also being given to modern internet connectivity.

This year’s budget has come with renewed confidence in development amid a once in a century calamity, Shri Modi said, adding that it will give a boost to the economy as well as create new opportunities for the common people.

The prime minister said the budget is “full of opportunities for more infrastructure, more investment, more growth and more jobs”.

“This will further open up the green job sector. This budget not only solves the contemporary problems but also ensures the bright future of the youth. Shri Modi said that Parvatmala Yojana will create a modern system of transport in hilly areas like Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir and Northeast.

“Discovery of modernity and technology in every walk of life through steps like drones for farmers, Vande Bharat trains, digital currencyOur youth, middle class, poor, downtrodden and backward classes will benefit immensely from 5G services, a national digital health ecosystem.

Along with cleaning the Ganga, the center of faith of millions of Indians, the government will promote natural farming along the river in five states of Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal. The minister said.

“Measures like special fund to encourage new agri startups and package for food processing industry will help in increasing the income of farmers. More than ₹2.25 lakh crore is being transferred to the account of farmers through MSP procurement,” he said.

Shri Modi said that along with the record increase in credit guarantee, several schemes have been announced in the budget.

“India’s MSME sector will greatly benefit from the 68% reservation of defense capital budget for domestic industry. A total public investment of Rs 7.5 lakh crore will give a new push to the economy and create new opportunities for small and other industries”, he said.
