So far 5.33 lakh deaths have occurred in India due to the Kovid-19 epidemic. This was stated by the Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya. Insurance claims worth Rs 808 crore have been paid under the ‘Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package’ insurance scheme. The scheme was launched on March 30, 2020, and is for the benefit of the families of 1,616 healthcare workers who died while fighting the COVID-19 pandemic. The World Health Organization has issued guidelines for collecting data on deaths from Kovid-19. Based on these guidelines, the Center has asked states to submit data on COVID-19 deaths. Mandaviya appreciated all the doctors, nurses and other health workers for their excellent work during the pandemic. He said that the country has been able to successfully deal with this epidemic only due to the efforts of these health workers.
