UP Assembly Elections 2022: Election Commission puts on hold exit polls. Check Dates, Other Details

before assembly elections Uttar PradeshThe Election Commission has banned all exit polls related to the upcoming assembly elections from February 10 to March 7. Violators of the order can be punished with imprisonment of at least two years and fine or both, the Election Commission said.

UP Chief Electoral Officer Ajay Kumar Shukla said in a statement issued today that the conduct of exit polls, its publication in print or electronic media or its campaign has been banned from 7.00 am on February 10 to 6.30 pm of March 7. .

Counting of votes will be held in Goa, Punjab, Manipur, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh in seven phases from February 10 to March 10, 2022.

Voting will be held in Uttar Pradesh in 7 phases (10 February, 14 February, 20 February, 23 February, 27 February, 3 March and 7 March) from February 10 to March 7.

The Election Commission (EC) had on January 22 extended the ban on physical rallies and road shows till January 31. This was the second time the commission had first announced the ban on January 15.

The commission, however, has given relaxation for physical public meetings of political parties or contesting candidates for the first phase from January 28 and for the second phase from February 1.
