UP Election 2022: Two arrested for attacking Union Minister SP Baghel in Karhali
Two persons have been arrested in connection with the attack on the convoy of BJP leader and Union Minister Satyapal Singh Baghel in Mainpuri’s Karhal last evening. According to the police, the case was registered after Baghel made a formal complaint at the Karhal police station;
Uttar Pradesh ADG Law and Order Prashant Kumar said, “Union Minister Baghel lodged a complaint at Karhal police station last evening. He himself is a complainant. Police acted swiftly and so far two people have been arrested.” “
Baghel’s convoy was attacked and stone pelted last evening in Attikullapur village of Karhal. He is contesting the assembly elections on a BJP ticket from Karhal against Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav. Karhal is considered a stronghold of the Samajwadi Party.
While talking to India TV, Baghel said that a conspiracy is being hatched to kill me. He said, “Akhilesh is scared of the support the BJP is getting in Karhal. He wants to win elections by capturing booths. CISF jawans saved my life yesterday.
Separately, a delegation of BJP led by Union Minister Anurag Thakur Complaint to Election Commission in Lucknow.
According to Baghel, some unidentified persons, who were raising pro-SP slogans, attacked cars in his convoy when he was returning from campaigning near Atikullapur village.
“They were raising slogans of ‘Akhilesh Bhaiya Zindabad’. We have complained to the police and a case has been registered,” said Lok Sabha MP Baghel.
In Baghel’s convoy, the window of a vehicle was shattered after hitting the stones. However, the Union minister narrowly escaped.
Meanwhile, the Home Ministry has provided ‘Z’ category security to Baghel by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). Union Minister of State in the Ministry of Law and Justice, Baghel was earlier Y+ security.
