Prayagraj: Four people, including two girls aged 15 to 22, died due to drowning while swimming in the Ganges river on Tuesday morning in village Matinpur of Hussainganj police station area of ​​Fatehpur district.
The dead were identified as jainvi (18) of Sultanpur Ghosh, faizana (22) of Hussainganj, Mohammad Saif (20) of Hussainganj and Sofia (15) jamrao,
three others, including amarin Local swimmers and sailors rescued from Bakarganj (18), Anas (19) of Bakandha and Anas (22) of Hussainganj. According to police officials, the incident happened around 11 am.
According to police, the incident took place around 11 am when a group of seven people, including two girls, had gone for a swim and accidentally went into deep water and drowned.
However, one of them made a noise. Seeing them drowning, local swimmers and sailors jumped into the river and managed to pull three of them out of the river. Unfortunately the swimmers could not save four other people from drowning. As soon as the information was received, the team of Hussainganj police reached the spot along with the swimmers and pulled out the dead bodies of the four people. The station officer (Husainganj) told TOI that several guests had come to attend the wedding of his daughter, one Amre Hasan, in Matinpur village on Monday night. “Some of the guests returned to their native village, while others decided to enjoy a swim in the Ganges river, a few meters away from the wedding venue,” he said.
While enjoying swimming, all the seven went into deep water and started drowning. The bodies have been sent for postmortem.
