UP jails are no longer fun centers for criminals: Yogi Adityanath

CM Yogi Adityanath said that the district jail of Sant Kabir Nagar will become an ideal reform home.

Sant Kabir Nagar:

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath today said jails in Uttar Pradesh are no longer “fun” centers for criminals and have become “correction homes” for them.

The Chief Minister said this while inaugurating and laying the foundation stone of 122 developmental projects worth Rs 245 crore in Sant Kabir Nagar district.

The projects also include the District Jail constructed with a cost of Rs 126 crore.

An official statement quoting the Chief Minister on the occasion said, “We have converted the state prisons into correctional homes, where criminals are being given a chance to reform. The jails of UP are now a place of fun for the criminals. are not.”

Adityanath said, “There was a time when power used to be the slave of the mafia. Today government bulldozers walk on their homes.”

The Chief Minister warned that his government would not allow the mafia to speak their mind.

“Our message to the mafia is very clear. If the mafia wants to make the life of the poor, farmers and traders hell, then our government will not allow it to happen,” he said.

Expressing satisfaction over the newly constructed jail in Sant Kabir Nagar district, the Chief Minister said that the prisoners here would not have to be sent to Basti district and this jail would become an ideal correctional home.

Mr Adityanath also accused previous governments of making the state synonymous with “dynastic politics, nepotism, appeasement, dacoity, hooliganism and riots”.

“Jobs were auctioned for the youth and the poor were denied their morsels. Jobs were mortgaged earlier. If anyone tries to auction jobs today, we will get their houses auctioned,” he said. “

The Chief Minister said that the UP government has given more than 4.5 lakh government jobs to the youth on the basis of their merit, with complete transparency, about 90,000 and the recruitment for government jobs will start soon.

The Chief Minister said that the recruitment of 30,000 women policemen is an important step in this direction, adding that the government is continuously running many schemes like Mission Shakti, Kanya Sumangala and Destitute Mahila Pension in their interest.

He reiterated that youth preparing for various competitions would get “competition examination allowance” in the state.

The Uttar Pradesh government has also decided to distribute tablets along with digital access to the youth of the state.

The Chief Minister also envisaged making Sant Kabir Nagar a hub of readymade garments.

“Khalilabad was once a major center of looms and handlooms in this district. Why can’t it become a hub for readymade garments?” He asked.

He said, “If we connect women to the market by providing modern sewing machines, then every household will start making readymade garments. In such a situation, we can even surpass Bangladesh and Vietnam in the production of readymade garments.”

Mr. Adityanath recalled another strong point of the district – its pottery industry in Bakhira – and said it would be another source of development of Sant Kabir Nagar.

“Previous governments have forgotten this, but we are working towards making Bakhira’s utensils industry recognized globally. It will become a major source of employment for youth and women at the local level,” he said.

Mr. Adityanath also announced his government’s plan to set up a medical college in the district under the PPP model.

Expressing concern over the flood situation in Sant Kabir Nagar, the Chief Minister said that the government was providing relief kits in sufficient quantity to every victim.

He said that adequate availability of anti-snake venom and anti-rabies vaccine has been ensured in the flood affected areas.

He said that now Sant Kabir Nagar will not lag behind any district in terms of development. He said that the land of Baba Tameshwarnath and the great Sufi saint Kabir is on the path of development.

“Political announcements were made earlier also for development, but they were never implemented. But in the last four-and-a-half years, there has been a change,” Adityanath said.
