UP minister Siddharth Nath Singh said, “The CM has said that the guilty will be punished. The opposition is using this incident for political tourism and political competition as elections are near.”
The SKM, in its letter to the President, demanded that Minister Mishra be sacked and a case be registered against him for inciting violence and spreading communal hatred.

Akhilesh Yadav arrested, later released
The police tried to remove the Samajwadi workers who were staging a sit-in near the residence of Akhilesh Yadav in Lucknow.
