UP Polytechnic exam postponed, classes go online due to rising cases of Kovid-19

UP Polytechnic examinations scheduled to start from January 20 have been postponed. The State Council of Technical Education said in an official statement that due to the rising cases of COVID-19, they have decided to postpone the off-semester examinations. The decision was taken in the council meeting held on Sunday. The examinations have been postponed after the situation of Kovid-19 is controlled and the state elections are held.

Sunil Kumar Sonkar, head of the Council of Technical Education, Uttar Pradesh, said that the examinations are likely to begin from March 15, however, the final call on the examination will then be taken after considering the COVID-19 situation. Even semester classes will start from January 22 in online mode and classes will remain closed.

Earlier, a fake notice claiming to conduct the polytechnic exam online was circulated. The exam is usually conducted in offline mode and the notice had created confusion among the candidates. The officials had later declared that the notice was fake, however, several students had then demanded postponement of the exam or shifting to online mode.

Students unwilling to appear for the exam have written to the officials to postpone it. He has also launched a campaign on social media to highlight the “seriousness of the situation”.

The application form for the UP Polytechnic exam was made available to the students in the last week of December 2021. UP Polytechnic exam is a 3 hour paper with around 100 questions. The exam is taken in Hindi and English only, while the questions are objective type (MSQ). 4 marks will be awarded to the candidate for each correct answer, however 1 mark will be deducted for each wrong option.
