UP: At least six people were injured in a clash between members of two communities in Uttar Pradesh’s Sultanpur on Monday.

According to the information, during the Durga Puja immersion procession in Baldirai area, a clash was reported over loud music playing.

Officials said a policeman was also injured in the clash.

The incident took place in the evening when the immersion procession was passing near a mosque in Ibrahimpur area at the time of Azaan, said Rajaram Choudhary, Circle Officer, Baldiray.

During the procession, the noise was asked to be reduced and both the sides pelted stones, he said.

On receiving information about the incident, the police team led by Chaudhary reached the spot and controlled the situation.

At least six people, including a police constable, were injured in the incident and were taken to a community health centre, the police official said.

Police force has been deployed in the area and the situation is under control, he said.

Chaudhary said that after the incident, District Magistrate Ravish Gupta and Superintendent of Police Somen Verma also reached the spot.
