The iconic Yezdi nameplate is coming back. Classic Legends, the Mahindra-owned company behind the revival Jawa Motorcycles, is all set to bring back Yezdi too. And the first motorcycles under the brand name have been spotted during testing. According to test mules, Classic Legends is likely to feature an adventure tourer and a scramble with the name Yezdi and revive the former ‘Roading’ moniker. The company had trademarked the name in India sometime back.

Yezdi ADV retains a retro-design theme and will take on Royal Enfield Himalayan in this segment

Little is known about the Yezdi Roadking adventure motorcycle but the bike seems to be production ready. The test mules can be seen in white with twin stripes and ‘Legendary Yezdi’ written on the fuel tank. Another set of spy shots shows the model in more detail which includes round LED headlamps, turn signals and taillights. The big windscreen and crash guard are hard to miss and are reminiscent of the Royal Enfield Himalayan. The bike also gets a radiator, split seats, a wider handlebar and an upswept exhaust. The instrument console appears to be completely digital and it will be interesting to see how much information it will pack for the users.

There is no word on the powertrain yet, but the Yezdi Roadking is expected to get the 334 cc single-cylinder engine from the Jawa Perak. The DOHC motor in its current state develops around 30 bhp and 32.74 Nm of peak torque when paired with a 6-speed gearbox. It will be interesting to see if the Classic Legends offers the same engine as the one on the Roadking. In comparison, the RE Himalayan uses a 411 cc SOHC motor making 24 bhp and 32 Nm of peak torque.

Also expected to see are long-travel telescopic forks at the front, a monoshock at the rear and disc brakes with dual-channel ABS. The manufacturer may offer single-channel ABS as an option to keep the starting price low. The bike will ride on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear spoke wheels. Meanwhile, the Yezdi Scrambler variant is likely to feature minimal bodywork, while also being lighter than the Roadking. It is expected to get the same hardware.

Classic Legends hasn’t officially announced the bikes yet, but we expect an announcement soon. There is a good chance that the manufacturer may reveal more details about the upcoming Yezdi offerings on November 15, 2021, which will mark the third anniversary of the Jawa moniker. Nonetheless, the times ahead are exciting for Yezdi fans.
