Upgrade to Windows 11? Here’s How You Can Check If Your PC Is Compatible

With Windows 11, you’ll be able to set up virtual desktops for different apps

Some processors that are compatible with the Windows 11 OS include AMD Ryzen 3, Intel’s eight-generation or higher, and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7c or higher.

Microsoft recently unveiled the Windows 11 OS, and while this is good news for a lot of Windows PC users, it also has a downside. The company previously disclosed the minimum requirements, and it appears that some older-gen PCs will struggle to update the software. Microsoft had already announced in June this year that its upcoming Windows 11 OS would require more powerful hardware than Windows 10 for a seamless experience. While the company claims that it will run smoothly on a lot of personal computers, devices that cannot adjust to the new OS will not receive the update. Here are the details of the minimum hardware requirement to run Windows 11 on your PC:

The processor must be built on a 64-bit architecture with a minimum CPU clock speed of 1GHz or higher. Compatible with some processors windows 11 OSes include AMD Ryzen 3, Intel’s eight-generation or higher, and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7c or higher. Your PC must have 64GB or more of storage space and at least 4GB of RAM. The device must have WDDM 2.0 driver or higher as well as Direct X12.

The company’s official PC Health Check application helps evaluate the compatibility of a PC with Windows 11. The app was recently taken down by the software giant after users complained that it did not provide them with satisfactory information. The application has now been fixed by the company and also informs you why someone’s PC does not support Windows 11.

Here’s a step-by-step guide on how you check your PC’s compatibility for Windows 11 using Microsoft’s PC Health Check application. First, you need to download the Microsoft PC Health Check application by opening the file, ticking the Terms of Service box, and installing it. You need to check the box that says Open PC Health Check. Click Finish to finish. The home page of the application will now pop up and read PC Health at a glance. Click on the top of the box that says, “Introducing Windows 11.” And then click on Check Now.

If your PC is not compatible with Windows 11 then the app will notify you by displaying a message that will read “This PC currently does not meet Windows 11 system requirements” with further information. However, if your PC has compatible hardware then you can upgrade to the new Windows 11 OS.
