Uproar at the screening of ‘The Kashmir Files’ in Noida; Police say the brakes happened due to a fault in the AC

As the screening of the film The Kashmir Files at a movie theater in Noida triggered a ruckus, police rushed to the site to pacify the audience, officials said on Wednesday. According to police officials, a malfunction in the auditorium’s central air-conditioning system forced the personnel to stop the screening of the film, leading to a commotion by the audience at around 7.30 pm.

He said that as soon as the air conditioner was immediately rectified by the management of the multiplex located inside a shopping mall in Sector 39 police station area, the show resumed. There was a problem with the AC system. The house was packed and yesterday (Tuesday) the weather was also a bit warm. The audience was also excited about the new film. This resulted in an uproar, a police spokesperson told PTI.

The mall management immediately rectified the AC and soon the film show resumed. A team of officials of the local police station also reached the spot after receiving information about the uproar, the official said. Police denied allegations surfaced on social media that a multiplex official from the minority community had deliberately stopped the screening of the film. Written and directed by Vivek Agnihotri and produced by Zee Studios, ‘The Kashmir Files’ depicts the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the Valley in the 1990s.

The Uttar Pradesh government had announced on Tuesday that the screening of the film would be made film tax-free.
