New Delhi: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has allowed unmarried women to apply for the National Defense Academy (NDA) and Naval Academy exams.

The move comes after the Supreme Court’s direction on the issue last month.

In compliance with the interim direction of the apex court, UPSC has decided to open applications for this examination at upsconline.nic.in to enable “only unmarried female candidates” who are otherwise eligible in terms of nationality, age, educational qualification etc. Huh. The statement said.

It added that the physical standards and the number of vacancies for women candidates will be notified after receipt of the same from the Ministry of Defence.

The application window for women candidates will remain open from September 24 to October 8 (up to 6 pm), said a statement issued by the UPSC.

No application will be accepted through the prescribed last date/time, i.e. 08.10.2021 (up to 6 PM) or through any other means other than the above online mode, it said.

“Female candidates are not required to pay the fee to apply for this examination,” the statement said.

An official said that the exam is to be held on November 14.

The admission of women candidates to the National Defense Academy and Naval Academy Examination (II), 2021 shall be provisional and subject to the final result of a writ petition pending in the court or such other order(s) as may be passed.
