Every year a large number of candidates appear for the Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET). This year, the exam will be announced soon by the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission. Notification regarding UPTET exam will be available on the official website – updeled.gov.in.

Registration for UPTET exam can be done only through an online application process. All the information regarding the exam including any notification, form, exam pattern, rules and regulations, timing etc. will be released soon on the official website mentioned above. Candidates are advised to keep checking it regularly for updates.

Government recruits teachers for primary and upper primary government schools through UPTET exam. Candidates can choose which grade teaching job they are applying for in their form and submit it with all the personal details asked in it. The application fee for General and OBC category candidates is Rs 600 for Paper 1 and Rs 1,200 for Paper 2. For SC/ ST candidates the fee is Rs 400 and Rs 800 respectively.

No announcement has been made yet on the number of vacancies. The candidates will know the actual number of vacancies only after the announcement of the exam dates. The approximate number of vacancies are expected to be 17,000.

The exam is usually conducted in May every year and it is expected to be the same this year as well. The results are usually released by July every year.

The total duration of UPTET exam is 150 minutes. The exam is divided into two papers, and each is 150 minutes long. While those appearing for Class 1-5 teaching jobs appear for Paper 1, those appearing for Class 6-8 teaching jobs appear for Paper 2. There is no negative marking, and all the questions are multiple choice questions. While each answer carries one mark, the wrong answer is given zero mark. So, candidates are advised not to skip any question. The exam will be conducted in 75 cities spread across the state and the candidates are requested to select the city closest to them.
