Restrictions on road campaigns, cycle rallies relaxed, candidates can campaign between 6 am to 10 pm
The Tamil Nadu State Election Commission on Friday said candidates contesting general elections to urban local bodies across the state can campaign between 6 am and 10 pm.
Earlier, the commission had said that the election campaign cannot be held between 8 pm and 8 am. TNSEC said, “District election officers have been directed to allow these after taking prior permission from the concerned authorities.”
Political parties, candidates and general public should ensure compliance of precautions to be taken to avoid the spread of COVID-19, it said.
General elections for 21 municipal corporations, 138 municipalities and 489 nagar panchayats are scheduled on February 19 and counting of votes will be held on February 22.
