Washington:

The White House said on Tuesday that Iran is volunteering to kill Ukrainians by providing drones to Russia for the war, and expressed concern that it would also send missiles to Moscow.

White House national security spokesman John Kirby said the Iranian regime was “involved in killing innocent Ukrainians” by arming the Russians.

“At its core, this is a regime in Tehran that is openly and voluntarily making itself an ally in the murder of innocent Ukrainian people on Ukrainian soil.”

Kirby referred to Iran’s provision of attack drones on Russia, which have been deployed in recent weeks to damage Ukraine’s infrastructure.

But he would not confirm reports that Tehran could also send short-range ballistic missiles to Russia.

“We are concerned about Iran’s ability to provide Russia with surface-to-surface missiles,” Kirby told reporters.

“We haven’t seen that bear outside, but it’s a concern,” he said.
