A man from Utah in the US is finally reunited with his birth mother after he received a Facebook message from her last November, completely out of the blue. Benjamin Hulberg works as a middle school teacher. He knew from childhood that he was adopted by his parents Angela and Brian Hulberg. He has always been curious about his biological mother. Talking to Good Morning News he said, “It was always a very positive conversation. It was my parents who were either expressing gratitude for Holi or I was talking about what I had for her.” How grateful I am and how I want to meet her one day.”
Her birth mother never forgot that she had given up on Benjamin for adoption 20 years ago and continues to find her online. “He was always on my mind. The holidays and his birthday and more, a roller coaster of emotions,” Shearer told Good Morning News. “I thought of him all the time.” He finally got his own social media handle. Remember. He said, “When I found him he was 18 years old and I was very hesitant. There was a lot going on in his life. … the last thing I wanted to do is throw a wrench in his life. So I just watched from afar.”
At the same time, the boy was also looking for his mother. He had said the same thing to his parents several times. He wrote letters, signed up with the adoption registry. Furthermore, he did a DNA test in hopes of finding the woman he only knew as Holly. So when he got the message of Happy Birthday, he couldn’t be happier. “I remember the exact place I got the message. I was in the office. I was a machine operator and I remember I was in machine number 15. I was in the middle of our hourly quality check and I got on my phone and I saw his message and I just replied,” he recalled.
According to him, the message generated an extremely emotional response. When they met they realized they were not that far apart as they had worked at HCA Healthcare’s St. Mark’s Hospital in Salt Lake City for the past two years.
