An official spokesperson said on Friday that the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government will recruit only women home guards against 20% of the vacant posts in the department.
“The officers have been asked to prepare a proposal to start the recruitment process in 100 days.
Its objective is to reduce crimes against women and create an environment of security in the state. The government has also issued guidelines to fill up all the vacant posts of Home Guards in the next four years.
Yogi government, which plans to give jobs to more than one lakh people every year in the state, has also stressed on the need to recruit more and more women in vacant posts in all government departments.
Officials said that the Home Guards Department has so far developed the capability to handle the security successfully.
At present, the Government of India has sanctioned 1,18,348 volunteers for the Uttar Pradesh Home Guard Organization, out of which a total of 1,151 companies have been formed, including 785 rural and 366 urban. This includes 25 women companies and 60 independent women platoons.
