Uttar Pradesh (UP) Assembly Election 2022: 54% polling recorded till 5 pm

Over 54% voter turnout was recorded till 5 pm on Monday in the 7th and last phase of the high-profile Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. The voting process for Chakia (Chandauli), Robertsganj and Duddhi (Sonbhadra) seats began at 7 am and concluded at around 4 pm. This continued till 6 pm in other constituencies.

According to the Election Commission’s ‘Voters Polling’ application, the polling percentage till 5 pm was 54.18 per cent.

The polling was 52.34 percent in Azamgarh, 54.26 percent in Bhadohi, 59.59 percent in Chandauli, 53.67 percent in Ghazipur, 53.55 percent in Jaunpur, 55.04 percent in Mau, 54.93 percent in Mirzapur, 56.95 percent in Sonbhadra and 52.79 percent in Varanasi. has shown.

A total of 613 candidates are in the fray for 54 seats in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s parliamentary constituency Varanasi.

The fate of Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party President Om Prakash Rajbhar and several state ministers will be decided in this round, in which 2.06 crore people are eligible to vote.

Apart from state tourism minister Neelkanth Tiwari, who is contesting from Varanasi South seat, other ministers in the final phase of elections are Anil Rajbhar (Shivpur-Varanasi), Ravindra Jaiswal (Varanasi North), Girish Yadav (Jaunpur) and others in the fray. Huh. Ramashankar Singh Patel (Marihan-Mirzapur).

Dara Singh Chouhan, who had resigned from the Yogi Adityanath cabinet and joined the Samajwadi Party (SP), is contesting from Mau’s Ghosi seat.

Om Prakash Rajbhar (Jahoorabad), Dhananjay Singh (Malhani-Jaunpur) are contesting as JD(U) candidates and Abbas Ansari, son of gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari, is contesting from Mau Sadar seat.

The campaigning reached its zenith in this phase when Modi led the BJP’s election attack in Varanasi and its surrounding districts.

The state has 403 assembly seats and the results of the elections will be declared on March 10.
