In a major landslide in Nainital, a 30-metre stretch of the Nainital-Bhawali road was completely destroyed. As huge stones fell on the road, the road collapsed and the affected part fell down the hill. A landslide occurred after rain in the area. The monsoon season usually sees an increase in landslides in the hills as water seeps into the crevices of the hills and weakens the soil’s hold. Landslides have also increased due to increase in construction activities in the hills.
