Protests against the Devasthanam Board Act are intensifying in Uttarakhand as priests are in no mood to bow down to the demand for repeal of the Act. Teerth priests staged a unique ‘Shirshasan’ dharna outside the ministers’ residence in the Yamuna Colony area of Dehradun. On November 22, the priests of Char Dham held a meeting of the core committee and discussed the further strategy apart from opposing the Devasthanam Board. Earlier this month, former Uttarakhand CM Trivendra Singh Rawat faced protests from priests of Kedarnath when they visited the temple. Kedarnath priests waved black flags to former CM Trivendra Singh Rawat and raised slogans against him.
