At least 12 people were killed and 15 injured in a stampede at Mata Vaishno Devi temple in Jammu and Kashmir’s Katra in the early hours of Saturday.
Speaking to India Today, an eyewitness from Haryana, who was present in the temple premises at the time of the tragic accident, said that there was no way out of the temple due to the large number of pilgrims. People started shoving and some fell on the ground and came out, causing a stampede.
